Creating Wish Paths: Power of Prayers series
Free. Everyone welcome.
What are prayers and how can they help both ourselves and others? Through understanding the nature or our minds we can understand how positive ways of thinking transform our mind and create inner pathways for protection and peace.
This April through June, KMC SF will provide a light introduction to prayers. There will be three short talks followed by traditional Kadampa Buddhist prayers.
Saturday, April 14: Powa prayers (for the recently deceased, compassion practice) talk by Gen Chomaat 2:15pm, prayers at 3:00-3:45pm
Through doing Powa Practice with faith, compassion and concentration we can transfer the consciousness of those recently deceased to a higher rebirth or to the Pure Land of a Buddha.
Tuesday, May 8: Liberation from Sorrow prayers (Buddha Tara practice about loving care), talk by Kathleen Thurston at 5:15pm, prayers at 5:45-6:30pm
Tara is a female Buddha, a manifestation of the ultimate wisdom of all the Buddhas. Each of the Twenty-one Taras is a manifestation of the principal Tara, Green Tara. Tara is also known as the ‘Mother of the Conquerors’.
By relying upon this practice, we can purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. In this way, we will naturally accomplish all the realizations of the stages of the path of Sutra and Tantra, and in particular we will attain a very special Dharma wisdom.
