Buddha explained many simple but effective methods to create peace within our mind, both through formal meditation and also through training our mind in our daily activities. In particular, through our mind of compassion we can create more peace within us and create more peace in our world.
7:00 – 7:30pm: enjoy hors d’oeuvres and the company of fellow practitioners.
7:30-8:30 pm: Gen Choma will give a talk on the practice of Taking and Giving (from the Lojong teachings on training the mind)
8:30-9:00pm: Buddha Avalokiteshvara Prayers of Compassion
ABOUT THE EVENT
This event is a wonderful opportunity for making our heartfelt resolutions for the New Year extra powerful. With a peaceful and compassionate mind, we can dedicate for the welfare and peace of all of the whole world. And we’ll conclude with a non-alcoholic New Year’s toast!
From 8:30 – 9:00pm, we will enjoy beautiful chanted Avalokiteshvara prayers, a lovely arrangement of prayers and mantras, along with a guided meditation to take us into the New Year.
ABOUT THE TEACHER
Gen Kelsang Choma is senior Teacher and Buddhist nun with the New Kadampa Tradition of Modern Buddhism; she has studied extensively on the Teacher Training Program for over 25 years and is qualified to teach both Sutra and Tantra. She is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center San Francisco and is invited to teach nationally. People enjoy her teachings for their clarity and warmth.
