Foundation Program (FP)

The Foundation Program (FP) is for anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding and experience of Buddhism through systematic study. FP is a practical method to improve our good heart, wisdom, and inner peace. Everyone can join and experience great benefits from being a part of this regular study program. The program is based on a systematic study of six Kadampa Buddhist texts written by the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. The classes include: • Guided meditations • Commentary to the text by the teacher • Group discussion • Question & answer opportunities • The company of like-minded spiritual friends.
Pre-registration is required.

Teacher Training Program (TTP)

This program is a step beyond the Foundation Program. It is designed for people who wish to train as authentic Dharma Teachers or simply engage with Buddha’s teachings in the deepest possible manner. In addition to completing the study of fourteen texts of Sutra and Tantra, the student is required to observe certain commitments with regard to behavior and way of life, and to complete a number of meditation retreats. Through a deep and continuing commitment to the program of study, meditation, discussion, and retreat, we can gain deep experience of Buddha’s teachings, establish a strong meditation practice, and become a qualified teacher in our own right.
Pre-registration is required.

Through regular teachings, guided meditations, systematic study, and group discussion, the Foundation Program (FP) offers the same training followed by spiritual practitioners in an unbroken lineage dating back to Buddha Shakyamuni. In this way, we can gain authentic experience of the Dharma while maintaining our contemporary lifestyle.

We offer four different Foundation Programs:

THE BOOK: How to Understand the Mind by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

This remarkable book offers us deep insight into our mind, and shows how an understanding of its nature and functions can be used practically in everyday experience to improve our lives.

The second part describes different types of mind in detail, revealing the depth and profundity of the Buddhist understanding of the mind. It concludes with a detailed explanation of meditation, showing how by controlling and transforming our mind we can attain a lasting state of joy, independent of external conditions.
